About this websiteMy name is Catrine Kyster Giery, and I'm a graduate history student at American Public University. Growing up in Denmark, I now live in South Carolina, USA.
This website is created as a public history project to fulfill part of the requirements for the class "HIST635 Museum and Exhibition Culture" at American Public University in May 2017. The purpose of this website is to begin to fill the gap of research and information regarding Danish Americans during WWII. The Danish American experience provides an example of the tapestry of ethnic experiences that made up the American WWII experience. The website is based primarily on secondary sources and more primary source research needs to be done in this area to begin to get a fuller picture of the topic. I would like to thank the Museum of Danish America for permitting me to use photos from their collection. Having worked primarily in the fields of communication, translation and tourism, I have a master's degree in International Communications from Leeds University, England, and a four-year degree in Journalism from the Danish School of Journalism in Denmark. I'm hoping in the future to dig deeper into the topic of the Danish American WWII home front. |
